How the planner works

Give it your route and how many miles the dashboard says you have left. The planner pulls the live price of every fuel station along your route — updated every 30 minutes from the UK government's Fuel Finder data — and works out where to stop so you never run low and never pay more than you have to.

  • Fewest stops (default) plans the smallest number of fill-ups, choosing the cheapest station wherever the choice doesn't add a stop.
  • Biggest saving buys just enough at pricier stations to hop to cheaper ones — more stops, lowest total cost.
  • Add range on a full tank (also on your dashboard) to plan the whole journey, and MPG to see litres and pounds per stop.
  • The reserve is how low you're willing to let the tank get — the plan never schedules you below it. 60 miles is roughly where the fuel light comes on.
  • Short detours are only recommended when the cheaper price genuinely beats the cost of the extra miles — the detour fuel is priced into every comparison.
